'Moonlight Surrender' was written in the fall of 1998. I was at a crossroads in my life, turning 40 and dealing with death.

I had hoped to convey emotions of such awestruck wonder with a chance meeting, (being SO swept away ) and knowing in your heart, (maybe not... in your head) when you can cast aside your vulnerabilities/insecurities  to take that... leap of faith!

You all have  different interpretations of the poem, and of its outcome, and that's WONDERFUL!

For me... this poem personifies 'my' interpretation and debunks the famous line...

"A kiss is JUST...

 a kiss!"

Moonlight Surrender

Dark shadows of the night

This luminous starlight

Mystified by its sight

Entity of mystery

A seductive memory

Softly calling out to me

Moonlight illuminates his face

One of such distinguishing grace

Which has transcended time and space

Captivated at first glance

Like some enchanted moondance

An instance of happenstance

Destined to be together

The time is now or never

One night to last forever

Breathless anticipation

This consummate temptation

My unrestrained salvation

Tender is our first kiss

Of encompassing bliss

That one cannot dismiss

Rapturous encounter

Our splendid endeavour

Of moonlight surrender
