This is another poem I placed on my self- imposed 'blacklist'.
At one point, writing  became extremely depressing for me, that I had to step away from it.
I feel that I have had sufficient time to contemplate if all of the poems could be revised for publication.
The revised poems will be placed in sequence with the lot until it is completed.
I want to share the process of revising these poems with you as I go along.

A Fateful Ride

The sun shines brightly

On this cool springtime day

As I commence to ride

Astride my chestnut bay

Young mare at full-gallop

A stiff breeze through my hair

For a brief moment

I haven't a care

Horse and rider as one

Pounding the earth abound

But pain overtakes me

And I fall to the ground

Could it be labor?

My mind starts to race

I lay helplessly

As Rain licks my face

The birth came too quickly

No hope for motherhood

Rain gazes down at me

As if she understood

I buried her this day

A small, white, cotton shroud

My heart is breaking

My soul cries out loud
